FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Here you’ll find the most common questions and short answers. If you have further questions, contact us directly.

In most cases, you need a job offer first, because it is the basis for the visa application. However, there are exceptions, for example if certain pathways allow entry without a specific offer, or if you first come to Germany to have your qualifications recognized. We’ll review your profile with you, identify the best pathway, and clarify the most sensible order of steps.

This depends heavily on the profession:

  • In general, at least an A2 language level is often required.

  • In nursing and many customer- or patient-facing roles, German is usually expected (often B1 to B2).

  • In some fields like IT, English may be sufficient, but German is an advantage.

The exact requirement depends on the employer, the position, and the recognition pathway. We’ll tell you early on what’s realistic.

  1.

Depending on your profession, documents, and chosen route, the full process until starting work in Germany often takes 6 to 9 months. In individual cases it can be faster, but it often takes longer if:

  • additional documents are requested,

  • recognition procedures take several months, or

  • visa appointments/processing times are delayed.

We’ll create a clear timeline with you and support you step by step.

This varies depending on the profession and the responsible authority. Translations are often needed for:

  • diplomas/certificates (vocational training/university) and transcripts

  • employment references / proof of work experience

  • language certificates

  • if applicable: police clearance certificate, birth certificate, marriage certificate (if relevant)

Important: certified translations are often required. We’ll provide a checklist tailored to your profession and pathway, so you don’t translate and pay for things unnecessarily.
